This is one of two etchings of a vortex or whirpool of veryday objects - the other is of shoes. We can imagine Balkanyi thinking of the different  characters who would wear each of these meticulously drawn pairs of glasses - each so manically different. An earlier etching by Balkanyi shows a stall of secondhand glasses in scrap-metal flea market, with customers trying them on.
